28 October 2016

Today I am taking part in the release boost for Constellation by Jennifer Locklear! I have also included my review here so read on to find out all you need to about the book and read my thoughts on it.

Title: Constellation
Author: Jennifer Locklear
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 20

She's intelligent, beautiful, and emotionally numb.

He's older, sophisticated, and harboring secrets.

Up-and-coming executive, Kathleen Brighton is ready to launch her family's firm into the next level of success. Polished and professional on the outside, Kathleen's personal life is a source of constant struggle and letdown. But after one night alone with Jack Evans, her sexy new colleague, her life takes a turn toward erotic intensity

Torn between her instinct to guard herself and her irresistible desire for Jack, Kathleen has only known heartache. And when she finds herself in the middle of a shattering personal crisis, she must trust fragile and uncertain bonds to survive. Will Kathleen conquer the demons of her past to find a future worth fighting for?

When Constellation first opens we meet Kathleen Brighton, a young woman working at her father's advertising firm who has a one-night stand with a coworker, Jack Evans. Jack is much older than her but she has been attracted to him since he started working there and since he is now divorced she indulges in the attraction.

This book is all about the two of them and how they navigate the minefield they have to endure to be together. On Kathleen's side it's the wrath of a father who she neither cares much for or gets on with and, on Jack's, is the fact he has a daughter from his previous marriage. I love how they had factors that affected the relationship, so often it is just one of the pairing whose past or current family situation affects the relationship and I loved that for a change.

Jack doesn't make things easy for himself, the morning after their first night together he gives Kathleen a frosty reception that makes her doubt what she has done. I never really understood why he did that and it made me not like him at the start but he redeemed himself. He is so caring and sincere throughout the rest of the book that I completely forgave him.

Oh and then there was Heidie! Jack's adorable daughter who you can't help but love and you can see why Kathleen falls hook, line and sinker for her. She is such an intelligent young lady and I loved reading Kathleen's interactions with her. They never failed to make me smile. She reminded me a lot of my own six-year-old niece.

Once I got to the halfway point of this book I couldn't put it down, this book is so much more than a love story! My heart went out to Jack and Kathleen in the second half of the book and I loved seeing them battle through together and then of course came the inevitable and I wanted to cry!

I will admit this book really didn't go the way I was expecting it to which made me love it more and I also didn't realise it was part of a trilogy so I can't wait for the next installment to see what is in store for Kathleen and Jack going forward.
