Summary:

Joanna Price is a city girl with the perfect life. She loves her job as a book editor, she just married Liam, high profile bestselling author and the man of her dreams, and she’s headed to the Caribbean to enjoy two weeks of paradise for her luxurious honeymoon.

Connor Duffield is a gruff, grumpy rancher from the Midwest. He is a country boy who has a no-nonsense approach to life, more scars than he’d like to admit, and he hates city girls.

So it’s just a misfortune they have to sit next to each other for a six hour plane ride. Even more so when their flight is caught in the perfect storm and Joanna wakes up stranded on a desert island with Connor, the very man she hoped she would never have to see again.

Why are they alone on this forsaken island? What happened to Joanna’s husband?

When her dream honeymoon turns into a hilarious tropical nightmare, Joanna’s first thought is survival. However, she and Connor will quickly discover just how boring paradise can be. As the days turn to weeks, and then months, this mismatched pair will have to learn how to coexist and how to resist the sparkles of an attraction they weren’t prepared to feel.

When they are finally rescued will Joanna’s marriage be saved as well, or will the life she knew and loved be in ruins?

 Review:

I need to start this review by saying how much I loved the whole concept of this book, a girl on the way to her honeymoon gets stuck next to another man on the flight and then gets stranded on a desert island with said man. I have often daydreamed about what just that would be like.

At the start of the book, Joanna Price has just married the love of her life, Liam and is on the way to their honeymoon destination, she has a successful career as a book editor and her life is going to her plan with her on track to get everything she wanted. As her and Liam get on the plane, she is trying in vain to get the man she is stuck next to to switch seats with her new husbnad, which was highly entertaining. I honestly can say that I loved Joanna from the very beginning, she is impossible not to love.

Connor is the man stuck next to her and is as far from the type of man Joanna goes for, he refuses to swap seats and she is stuck next to him for only the next six hours. Or so she thinks. During the flight there is a storm which leads to the two of them being stranded together on a deserted island.

Camilla has an absolute talent for writing characters you just can't help but love and this comes out with Connor. He's a man who, to begin with, communicates in grunts but you can't help but love him. He has a hard exterior and Joanna tries her hardest to crack it and gets somewhere in the end. As they spend more time together on the island hoping to be rescued (well, that's mainly Joanna) he opens up and we get to know him. It's a slow burn with Connor but he is so loveable and he genuinely looks out for Joanna (although I doubt he would admit to that while they were on the island).

There's an attraction between the two of them but as Joanna considers herself to still be married she never lets it progress but then they get rescued and I felt so bad for her! It turns out her husband has moved on and Connor, after leaving a note for her, has returned back home. Joanna is now alone having found out her husband has remarried so she moves back in with her brother and her life begins to fall apart around her.

I'll be honest, that was not what I was expecting from this book! It was a WOAH moment for me when Connor left but I was happy it happened that way because once Joanna's life was upended she started to find the inspiration to get her life back on track and I truly think had that not happened she may have fallen madly in love and not really discovered what she was capable of. She really needed that time alone to get to know herself and what she could achieve and boy did she achieve! I felt so proud of her.

Connor does eventually make his way back into her life and I really think he came in at the right moment for her and just when he needed him to. These two were so cute in this book that I was rooting for them from the start.

Camilla has done it once again and given me an amazing book couple that I love completely and I can't wait to see what she has to offer next.
