Summary:

Professionally, Danielle Pierce is making a name for herself writing biographies of famous athletes. Her personal life isn't going as swimmingly, and she's back on the market after calling off a recent engagement.

Her agent throws her a curveball she never saw coming when she's assigned to cover the hottest baseball player - on and off the field - Bradley Reynolds. The Dodgers' third baseman spends as much time on the covers of tabloids as on the sports pages, dating a string of famous models and actresses.

Dani never thought she’d have to see Brad in person again after he broke her heart in college. Seven years later he selects her to write the story of his life, and she’s stuck. If she refuses, she looks like a coward. If she gives in, he wins. She doesn’t know what his game is, but she hopes she’s strong enough this time to play without getting burned.

Review:

This isn't the first book of Amy's read and I can tell you it won't be the last. I love her writing and her characters. The first of her books I read was Code Red and I loved it. I love The Hot Corner more. When I started reading the book I was wondering how the hell this was going to work out and I couldn't stop reading until I knew.

Dani and Bradley have a history, they dated while at college and Dani, believing that Brad was cheating ended their relationship. Seven years later Dani is a successful biography author and Brad requests that she writes his biography. She wants to refuse because she doesn't want to go back to the past but in the end she goes hoping to prove that she is over Brad and has moved on.

I loved reading Dani and Brad's interactions together. Every conversation they had was just full of entertaining and comedy. If you want to read a rom com read this. It is so awesome! There was a point I really didn't see how these two working it out and getting back together, it seemed like they wouldn't land up where they belonged. With each other.

Dani was so great, her resolve at the start is solid and you literally see it slip the further we go into the story and I loved that. You can see how much she wants him and how much she's fighting it but in the end, its useless. These two are meant to be together.

And then there's Bradley Reynolds...

I think I'm in love with him.

He is so swoony when he wants to be and there are moments I wanted to lean into the book, push Dani out the way and claim him for myself. The guy is so amazing despite what you perceive him to be like from all the celeb stories running around about him. And the thing with the baseballs and the messages to Dani? So, so swoon. Brad may come across to those who don't know him as an arse, but he isn't. When the door is shut and it's just the two of them he is just lovely.

At the end, once Dani had shared her secret with Brad, my heart was in my throat as I waited to see what happens. I just needed to know if these two would land up in each other's arms or not. The letter that Dani writes to Brad is just beautiful and really makes up for everything.

I enjoyed the whole of this book and it really did make me smile. If you love romances and second chances you will love The Hot Corner.
