Rating and Review:

The latest publication coming from Omnific Publishing is The Weight of Words by Georgina Guthrie, a beautifully written book about forbidden romance and wanting. Aubrey Price is in her final year of college and everything is going swimmingly, she has good friends, a good job with a great boss who is the Dean of the college. The only thing seemingly missing is a guy. That is until she meets the new TA on one of her courses, Daniel Grant. He's a hot hobo and Aubrey is instantly attracted to him and the feelings are mutual.

Since Daniel Grant is her TA, this relationship that develops is, of course, forbidden. Everything has to be hidden and secretive. I love how Georgina manages to achieve this and still throws in hot scenes where they are barely touching each other but you can feel what they are feeling and how hard this situation is for the both of them. You feel every emotion they feel and when an author can do that they are truly gifted.

I loved seeing Daniel and Aubrey's relationship develop, it was great to read and can I just say, I think I love Daniel. He is so swoony, quoting Shakespeare, looking all hot and buying sweet gifts for Aubrey that aren't over the top or ostentatious. Aubrey is great too, she's fierce and independent but a loveable character who loves all her friends and would do anything for them. When she inadvertently hurts one of her closes friends you can feel how much it hurts her.

It's not just the two leads that make this book great, it's the supporting cast too. Daniel's whole family are a hoot and great at winding him up and welcoming Aubrey into the fold when, not realising she is Daniel's student, Dean Grant (Aubrey's boss and Daniel's father) invites Aubrey for dinner in the hope of setting them up. Seeing the whole family interact with Aubrey was one of the highlights for me, they really welcomed her as one of their own. Even Daniel's stern response to seeing she's there when he turns up unexpectedly softens and makes for a fan yourself hot scene. I think (as a fellow Brit) Penny has to be my favourite member of Daniel's family, I just love the stuff she comes out with and Daniel's grandmother was great too, she had one small scene but owned it. Completely.

It's not just Daniel's family, Aubrey's best friend, Julie is great too, she comes out with some great lines and I think we all have a friend like her and if we don't we wish we did. Matt is lovely too, you can tell he will be there for Aubrey no matter what and he proves this when he stands up for Aubrey near to the end of the book, he got huge respect from me in that scene!

And then there are those few so hot scenes I needed to fan myself.  I mean, seriously they are SO HAWT. Never have I wanted to play pool so much in my life! Although, even though these scenes are hot, they aren't over the top, they are perfectly written and you can feel both Daniel and Aubrey's frustration.

Before I sign off, I want to mention Georgina's writing, I think The Weight of Words may be one of the well written books I have ever read. Georgina has a great grasp of what makes a book amazing. Not just in terms of putting the words on paper but creating the story. This wasn't just an I love him and want him love affair, it is a real relationship, with real problems and real obstables which I love. I'm all for getting lost in the book world where anything is possible but it is so refreshing to read a real life type of relationship in a book. A story you could see two people in real life living through. Like I said earlier, you really feel every single emotion this pair goes through.

So, all in all I guess you could say I LOVED this book. Really, really loved it and I can't wait to see what Georgina has in store for Aubrey and Daniel. Whatever is to come one thing I am sure of, Georgina will give these two the story they deserve and keep us falling in love with Daniel even more.

Aubrey Price is in the final months of her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto.  Bright, witty and fiercely independent, Aubrey works part-time for the college Dean and has her sights set on graduating with distinction.  When she meets Dean Grant’s son, Daniel, the TA in her senior Shakespearean studies course, a shared love of the Bard’s works and an instant mutual attraction draw Aubrey and Daniel together.  Unfortunately, a strict anti-fraternizing policy, made more perilous by a black mark on Daniel’s record, keeps them apart.

Against this academic backdrop, Aubrey and Daniel navigate their way through a steamy courtship, their forbidden romance aided, abetted and sometimes thwarted by a colorful cast of friends, family and classmates.
